Beaches & Lagoons
White powdery sand beaches and lagoons with crystal-clear turquoise sea are everywhere in the Andaman Islands. Andaman is an ideal location for a good sun-tan or a cool enchantry swim in the coral water full of spectacularly colorful fish-life. Andaman shores, utterly quiet except for the sound of roaring waves provide rewarding hunts for sea-shells. Andaman beach life is truly an experience for rejuvenating the body, mind and soul of the traveller.

Diving

There is no adventure like diving. Whether you are novice, or whether you have been diving for many years, there is always something new, fascinating or challenging about venturing into the underwater world. Your mind may be mesmerized by clouds of colorful fish, your curiosity raised by the mysterious remains of sunken ships or your creativity awakened by the art of underwater photography. Your diving interests may range from a casual pastime pursued on vacation, to a constant passion, or even a career. Diving offers something new for everyone.

Diving in Andaman is a unique lifetime experience. The coastal water surrounding these islands is the abode of one of the richest coral reef eco-system in the world. Here the coral reefs and underwater formations are undamaged by human activity. The best season for diving is from December to April.

Many of the islands are surrounded by fringing reefs, often several hundred meters wide and separated from the shore by a lagoon of similar width. There are also more steeply undulating hills of raven volcanic lava, which makes for some unusual diving. There is plenty of steeply sloping and shallow reefs suitable for snorkeling. Large pelagics are plentiful in these waters, as are a variety of sharks. Large schools of hammerhead often patrol the waters away from the reefs, Grey Whitetip, Nurse and leopard sharks are found closer inshore while the Silvertip and Ocean Whitetips sometimes appear out of the deep blue beyond. Enormous manta Rays are also often seen.

Snorkeling
One can enjoy the under-water marine life and view the rarest varieties of corals by snorkeling near the Andaman Water Sports Complex, Corbyn's Cove Tourism Complex, Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Havelock and other islands on all days from dawn to dusk depending on weather.

Big Game Fishing
The waters around these islands are haven for Trolling, Throwing, Bottom Fishing and Coastal Fishing. Some of the varieties of fish available are: Skipjack, Crevalee jack, Giant Kingfish (Caranx ignobilis) - 5 to 20 Kgs, Great Trevally, Grouper (4 - 15 Kgs), Red Snapper, Great Barracuda, King Mackerel, Vivaneau job, Sailfish, Marlin and Tuna. There is also a Fishing Club in Port Blair which organizes fishing excursions.
